Why Old Brooklyn homeowners choose us
We’re the only real exterminator in the area that specializes in mouse-proofing properly repairing entry points rather than just scattering traps and bait and hoping. In a neighborhood with as much older housing and green-space border as Old Brooklyn, that distinction matters: a trap catches the mouse that’s already inside, but proofing keeps the next ten from getting in at all.
Local expertise
Owner Shawn Payne’s background includes structural pest control work for the City of Cleveland and NASA Glenn Research Center, along with two decades of hands-on experience with exactly the kind of older Cleveland-area housing stock found throughout Old Brooklyn.

Angela BrdarFrom the moment I spoke to Simone on the phone, I knew I was in good hands. She listened intently to the issue I was calling about, told me she would discuss a resolution shortly with her boss and get back to me. She contacted me shortly after with a potential solution and a few days later, Shawn showed up at my home ready to work. He went above and beyond for me and could not have been kinder. I highly recommend you call Lakewood Exterminating for your exterminating needs. Efficient, kind, fair pricing and peace of mind at its finest. Thank you!Posted on Google
Daniela MitrovicIf you call this place, a human being answers the phone. They came out a few hours after we called. It’s been about 2 hours and the yellowjackets are mostly dead. Thanks everyone for letting us use our door again!
FAQ
Yes — homes bordering park land or creek corridors tend to see more wildlife activity (raccoons, squirrels) and more opportunities for mice to approach unnoticed. We inspect for both.
Yes, our wildlife control services cover squirrels, skunks, and other nuisance wildlife common in areas like Old Brooklyn with nearby green space.
Yes — traps address mice that are already inside; proofing finds and seals the entry points so new mice can’t get in. It’s a specialty of ours and one of the main reasons Old Brooklyn homeowners call us specifically.
Yes with housing stock this age, a termite inspection is worth adding, especially if you’ve never had one or it’s been several years. We can bundle it with a general pest inspection.
Carpenter ants are larger and tend to show up near moisture-damaged wood or aging window and door seals, which is common in Old Brooklyn’s older homes. If you’re not sure, describe what you’re seeing when you request a quote and we’ll help identify it before the visit.
